Motorcycle class
Modified custom bikes
Normally, modified motorcycles have one or a few custom made parts, structural change(s) or performance improvements. Some bikes could be heavily redesigned or modified, but they still preserve its original model year and brand. In general, it’s the least expensive custom class of motorcycles.
Freestyle
Unique motorcycles which are heavily redesigned or build from ground up could be named on the full discretion of its creator. Typically, most if not all parts are custom made. Some motorcycle builders even heavily modify the engine and in the result there are not much left from the original bike.
Retro motorcycle
Typically, fully restored or well preserved a few dozen years old motorcycles which hold a value because of age and very limited availability. Some old bikes from past century survived in good hands, but some motorcycles are assembled from many parts purchased from different places.
Painting
Paint application on custom motorcycle is one of the most important aspects of a whole design. Unique painting alone will make the bike unlike any other. Some motorcycles are powder coated means dry powder electrostatically applied on the bike and then cured under the heat.
Cost to build custom motorcycle
When it comes to price determination, there is no standard rate or average cost could be defined for modifying or building custom motorcycle. Some light modifications of a gas tank, seat, fenders, muffler, shock absorbers or spring forks might cost few thousands on top of a motorcycle price. At the same time, making custom chassis, adding extra power to the engine and creating unique design is time consuming and pricey work. It won’t be fair to put any price on the customization before knowing what exactly should be built. Some masterpieces could easily cost over $100,000 and couple years to complete the work. Restoring vintage motorcycles might not be a cheap, over the weekend project, as well. If you found or purchased a rare, 100 years old motorcycle in poor shape and with many parts missing it could be an extremely expensive task to fully restore such bike to fully functional, original configuration.
