Step 5
Back part
Repeat steps 1 – 4 for the back part, but work 2 more rows or 13 rows.
In order not to join shoulder pieces later one, you may reuse foundation chains of both front shoulder pieces to work two back shoulder pieces.
Step 6
Body
Join front and back parts together
Work sl.st.1 into 3rd ch of the front part, and then continue crocheting in the round.
1st round – ch3, dec*, [(ch1, sk1, dc1) x 2, ch1, sk1, shell, (ch1, sk1, dc1) x 2, ch1, sk1, dc dec] to last repeat of the front part; (ch1, sk1, dc1) x 2, ch1, sk1, shell, (ch1, sk1, dc1) x 2…
Join front and back parts together second time.
Return to the 11th row of the front part, insert the hook into the last loop and work sl.st.1 into the 3rd ch of the back part.
…. then continue crochet the 1st round – ch1, sk1, dc dec, [(ch1, sk1, dc1) x 2, ch1, sk1, shell, (ch1, sk1, dc1) x 2, ch1, sk1, dc dec] to last repeat of the back part; (ch1, sk1, dc1) x 2, ch1, sk1, shell, (ch1, sk1, dc1) x 2, ch1, sk1, unfinished dc, sk1, unfinished dc + sl.st.1 into 3rd ch pulling the yarn through 3 loops on the hook
Ripple stitch rounds
2nd round – ch3, dec*, [dc5, dc5 into 1ch, dc5, dc dec] to last repeat; dc5, dc5 into 1ch, dc5, work unfinished dc + sl.st.1 into 3rd ch pulling the yarn through 2 loops on the hook
3rd round – ch3, dec*, [(ch1, sk1, dc1) x 2, ch1, sk1, shell, (ch1, sk1, dc1) x 2, ch1, sk1, dc dec] to last repeat; (ch1, sk1, dc1) x 2, ch1, sk1, shell, (ch1, sk1, dc1) x 2, ch1, sk1, unfinished dc + sl.st.1 into 3rd ch pulling the yarn through 2 loops on the hook
Repeat the two above rounds of the pattern for about 8 times
Step 7
Use a larger size crochet hook
17th round – sl.st.8, [ch4, sk1, trc dec, ch6, sk1, sl.st.1] to end
18th round – [ch1, sk5, (trc1, ch1) x 7 into 1ch, sk5, sl.st.1] to end
19 & 21 rounds = 2nd round
20th round = 3rd round
Step 8
Sleeves
Work 3 or more repeats in the round
Crochet the 1st round similar to the 3rd round (step 5), but instead of skipping 1 ch, skip some about the same space/interval. In addition, finish the round with one unfinished dc, sk some space, one unfinished dc + sl.st.1 into 3rd ch pulling the yarn through 3 loops on the hook.
Then repeat the 2 Ripples stitch rounds (2nd and 3rd rounds) for about 11 times.
Use a larger size crochet hook to about your elbows, and then continue crocheting using a smaller size crochet hook to end of each sleeve.
Last 5 sleeve rounds = last 5 body rounds (step 6), but use a smaller size crochet hook.
Step 9
Neckline
Dc and sc about the neckline working one decrease in each corner.

Hi siew chin,
Hi siew chin,
Thanks for the good question. Please read the step 5. You may reuse foundation chains of the front part shoulder pieces to work back shoulder pieces or crochet them separately, and then sew the shoulders together using a sewing needle. Happy crochet!

Hi Sasi,
Hi Sasi,
For the size L, I would add one repeat to the front part and one repeat to the back part. For that, chain 47 instead of 35 at the end of the 5th row (step 1) or 5th row – h2ch, sl.st.1, ch4, sk1, trc dec, ch6, sk1, sl.st.1, ch47*
*ch47 = (3 x 12) +11
Use a smaller size crochet hook to adjust your gauge. One repeat should equal about 3.3 inches. Happy crochet!
