Crochet women’s halter summer top with shells – multi stitch pattern
Step-by-step crochet instructions
Step 1
Cup/bra
Make a foundation chain of 12 chains
1st row (right side) – h2ch, sc9, sc3 into last ch. Do not turn your work to the wrong side; use other loops of the foundation chain. Work sc to end plus RC1. Then turn it to the wrong side.
2nd row (wrong side) and all even rows – h2ch, sc backwards to end + RC1
3rd row – h2ch, sc9, sc2 into ch, sc3 into ch, sc2 into ch, sc9 + RC1
5th row – h2ch, sc11, sc2 into ch, sc3 into ch, sc2 into ch, sc11 + RC1
7th row – h2ch, sc13, sc2 into ch, sc3 into ch, sc2 into ch, sc13 + RC1
9th row – h2ch, sc15, sc2 into ch, sc3 into ch, sc2 into ch, sc15 + RC1
10th row = 2nd row
Crochet the 2nd cup like the 1st one
Step 2
Body
At the end of the 10th row of the 1st cup, make 56 chains and work sc20 at the bottom of the second cup. Then work sc20 at the bottom of the 1st cup to have 96 chains in total or multiples of 6 chs.
Step 3
Crochet in the round using a smaller size crochet hook
1st round – sc to end + sl.st.1 into the 1st ch
2nd round – ch3, bldc to end plus sl.st.1 into the 3rd ch
3rd round – ch1, blsc to end + sl.st.1 into the 1st ch
4th round – ch3, h2ch, 1st CL*, [2nd CL**] to end; 3rd CL*** plus sl.st.1 into 1st ch
*1st CL – ch3, insert hook into 2nd ch., grab the yarn, and pull it through (you should have 2 loops on a hook). Pull the yarn through 3rd ch. (3 sts on hook). Insert hook into a loop of the 1st base ch., grab the yarn, and pull it through (4 sts on hook). Pull the yarn through 2 back loops of the following 2 chs (6 sts on hook). YO, pull the yarn through the 6 sts.
**2nd CL – ch2, insert hook into a center of the 1st CL, grab the yarn, and pull it through (2 sts on hook). Pull the yarn through the last used base ch. and through 3 loops of the following 3 base chs (6 sts on hook). YO and pull the yarn through the 6 sts on hook.
***3rd CL – ch2, pull the yarn through the center of 2nd CL. Draw the yarn through the last used base ch. and through 2 last loops of the round (5 sts on hook). Pull the yarn through the 2nd ch (6 sts on hook). YO and pull the yarn through the 6 sts on the hook.
5th round – [hdc3 into each center of the clusters/half flowers] to end + sl.st.1
6th round – ch1, sc to end + sl.st.1 into the 1st ch
7th round = 2nd round
8th round = 3rd round
9th round – [sk2, (hdc4, ch3, hdc4) into 3rd ch, sk2, hdc1] to end
At the end of the round instead of last hdc1, work yo, sk2, draw the yarn through the 3rd ch. You should have 3 loops on your hook. Then draw the last 3rd loop on your hook through the 2 other loops on the hook. Cut the yarn and secure it.
Step 4
Ties
Attach the yarn to the top of a cup, chain 60, h2ch, sl.sts to end
Edge
Work sc to end using the same smaller size crochet hook
Decoration
Attach a piece of yarn with a shell on it to each repeat of the last pattern.
