Begin crocheting from the top to bottom.
Make a foundation chain of 50 chs or multiples of 6 chs plus 14 additional chs.
Increase
The repeat for the first row is [dc5, ch1, sk1]. To adjust the size, work more repeats between corners.
1st row – h3ch, dc1, (ch1, sk1, [dc5, ch1, sk1], Vst1) x 2, ch1, sk1, dc5, (ch1, sk1, [dc5, ch1, sk1], Vst1) x 2, ch1, sk1, [dc5, ch1, sk1], dc2 into 1ch + RC1

Use a larger size crochet hook to widen the garment.
Work rows without increasing chs.

10th row – h2ch, sc3, ch1, sk1, [sc5, ch1, sk1] to last 3chs; sc3 + RC2

Alternate the 10th and 11th rows for about 8 rows.
Widen the garment.

19th row – h4ch, dc2, ch2, sk2, [fp dtrc 1, dc3, fp trdc 1, ch2, sk2] to last 3 chs; dc3 + RC1

Alternate 19th and 20th rows until you crochet the desired length of the cardigan.

Sleeve edge
Attach the yarn under arm.
1st row – sc to end + ch1
2nd row – h2ch, reverse sc to end + sl.st.1
Cut the yarn and secure it.

Work the two edge rows for the second sleeve and the body.
Sew on buttons. Use spaces between chain stitches as your button holes.

When you have 3 loops on the hook, draw the yarn through all 3 loops.
fp trdc – front post triple double crochet – work unfinished trc under a middle dc of a round before previous round and unfinished dc. Then pull the yarn through 3 remaining loops on your hook.
h#ch – insert a hook into the number chain from the hook
RC – returning chain
sk – skip a base chain
sl.st. – slip stitch
Vst – (dc1, ch1, dc1) into one chain or under one chain
