Part 1 video tutorial
Step 1
Make a foundation chain of 65 chs or multiples of 8 chs plus one additional ch.
To crochet in the round, join it into a ring with a slip stitch.
1st round – ch1, sc into sm.ch, sc to last 1ch; sk1 + sl.st.1 into 2nd ch
2 – 5 rounds = 1st round
Step 2
Increase
6th round – ch1, sc into sm.ch, sc6, sc2 into 1ch, [sc7, sc2 into 1ch] to end; sl.st.1 into 2nd ch
Step 3
Nuts pattern
7th round – ch1, CL1 into sm.ch, sc1, [CL1, sc1] to end; sl.st.1 into 2nd ch
8th round = 1st round
Alternate 7th and 8th rounds until you crochet 14 rounds or repeat the pattern 4 times.

Decrease

16th round – ch1, sc1 into sm.ch, sc5, dec1, [sc6, dec1] to end; sl.st.1 into 2nd ch
17th round – ch1, CL1 into sm.ch, (sc1, CL1) x 2, dec1, [CL1, (sc1, CL1) x 2, dec1] to end; sl.st.1 into 2nd ch
18th round – ch1, sc1 into sm.ch, sc3, dec1, [sc4, dec1] to end; sl.st.1 into 2nd ch
19th round – ch1, CL1 into sm.ch, sc1, CL1, dec1, [CL1, sc1, CL1, dec1] to end; sl.st.1 into 2nd ch
20th round – ch1, sc1 into sm.ch, sc1, dec1, [sc2, dec1] to end; sl.st.1 into 2nd ch
21st round – ch1, CL1 into sm.ch, dec1, [CL1, dec1] to end; sl.st.1 into 2nd ch
22nd round – ch1, dec to end; sl.st.1 into 2nd ch
23rd round – dec to end
Cut the yarn and secure it from the inside of the hat
Step 5
Brim
Skip 15 chs from the starting point. Attach the yarn to the initial foundation chain and make a loop.
1st row (right side) – sl.st.1, sc 16, sc2 into 1ch, sc16, sc2 into 1ch + RC1
2nd row (wrong side) – h2ch, sc34, sl.st.1
3rd row – h2ch, sc to last 1ch; sc2 into 1ch + RC1
4th row – h2ch, sc to last 2 chs; sl.st.1 (do not work the very last chain)
5th row – h2ch, sc to last 1ch; sc2 into 1ch
Step 6
Edge
Work sc to end.
Cut the yarn and secure it on the wrong side of the garment.
Decorate it with a button or flower.

Abbreviations
ch – chain
CL – cluster – YO, insert the hook into a chain, grab the yarn, and pull it through. You should have 3 loops on your hook. Draw the yarn through the first 2 loops on your hook. *YO, insert the hook into the same base chain again, grab the yarn, and pull it through, then draw the yarn through the first 2 loops on your hook. Repeat from * two more times. Lastly, YO and pull the yarn through the all 5 loops on your hook.
dec – decrease – insert a hook into a base chain, grab the yarn, and pull it through. You should have 2 loops on your hook. Insert the hook into a following base chain, grab the yarn, and draw it through, resulting in 3 loops on your hook. Then pull the yarn through all 3 loops on the hook.
h2ch – insert a hook into a second chain from your hook
RC – returning chain
sc – single crochet
sl.st. – slip stitch
sm.ch – the same base chain
YO – yarn over – wrap the yarn around your hook to create a new loop

For the brim I used half of my initial foundation chains. Then I worked just one increase on the middle of my brim. So, just follow the written instruction using your number of chains for the brim. Happy crocheting!
