Part 2 video tutorial

31st row = 11th row, but work 3 RC instead of 5.
32nd row – h5ch, dc1, [ch1, sk1, dc1] to end +RC3
33rd row – h5ch, dc to end + RC3
34th row = 32nd row

Decrease

Decrease 2 chains every other row.
35th row – h6ch, dc2, [ch1, sk1, dc3] to last 2 chs; sk1, dc1 + RC3
36th row – h5ch, dc1, ch1, sk1, [dc3, ch1, sk1] to last 1ch; dc1 + RC3
37th row – h6ch, dc1, ch1, sk1, [dc3, ch1, sk1] to last 4chs; dc2, sk1, dc1 + RC3
38th row – h5ch, dc4, [ch1, sk1, dc3] to last 1ch; dc1 + RC3
39th row – h6ch, dc1, [dc3, ch1, sk1] to last 3chs; dc1, sk1, dc1 + RC3
40th row – h5ch, dc3, [ch1, sk1, dc3] to end + RC3
41st row – h6ch, dc3, [ch1, sk1, dc3] to last 3chs; sk1, dc2 + RC3
42nd row – h5ch, [dc2, ch1, sk1, dc1] to last 1ch; dc1 + RC3

First front part

Continue working the 8 above decrease rows using 38 chs. So, work 43rd row as your 35th row, 44th row as your 36th row and so on until you crochet 19 rows.

Second front part

Work the 2nd front part as the first one. Attach the yarn into the 38th chain from the end of the 42nd row. Chain 3 to pick up the height, skip one chain, dc2, [ch1, sk1, dc3] to last 2 chs; sk1, dc1 + RC3. After that, repeat the 8 decrease rows as you did for the first front part until you crochet 19 rows.

Back part

Attach the yarn into last used chain of the 1st front part, chain 3 to pick up the height, dc2, [ch1, sk1, dc3] to end, dc1 into the 1st ch. of the 2nd front part + RC3.
Then continue working the 8 decrease rows as for the front parts. So, work 44th row as your 36th row, 45th row as your 37th row and so on until you crochet 17 rows.

Back shoulder parts

60th row = 36th row (use20 chs)
61st row = 37th row

Join shoulder parts

Match closely chains. Join back shoulder piece with the front one working 62nd row like the row 38.
Slip stich down to 59th row and sc to last 19chs. Then ch3 to pick up the height and work the 60th row as your row 36.
61st row = 37th row
Join shoulder parts working 62nd row again.

Finish up

Edges - sc to end.
Sew up a button.

Hi MAJones1225,

Hi MAJones1225,
If your gauge will be about the same as mine, I would suggest trying 206 chs to work 5 repeats. For each front part use about 46 chs, skip 8 chs under each arm, and work 94 chs for the back part. In addition, it will be necessary to crochet more rows before joining shoulder pieces together. Happy crochet!

The easiest way to adjust

The easiest way to adjust this pattern is to use a thicker yarn and larger size crochet hook. The other option is to work 206 chs (5 repeats) and use even smaller size crochet hook and thinner yarn than I used to adjust your gauge to about 8 inches = 1 repeat. Happy crochet!

Hi sanyogita,

Hi sanyogita,
Thank you for sharing the vest with us. I appreciate it. I like your accurate work and some adjustments to the pattern. To make edges more straight, you may single crochet decreasing some chains. Happy crochet!

Hi jdbeach_2000,

Hi jdbeach_2000,
For an XL size, I would start with 206 chs to work 5 repeats. Happy crochet!
