Child’s hat crochet pattern - easy for beginners camo stitch
Step-by-step crochet instructions
Step 1
Make a foundation chain of 8 chains
Step 2
Ribbing
1st row – h2ch, sc6 + 1RC
2nd row – h2ch, blsc6 + 1RC
3 – 63 rows = 2nd row
64th row – h2ch, blsc6
Step 3
Join the last row of the ribbing with the 1st one to continue crocheting in the round. Pick up chains on the edge of the ribbing. Work sc1 above each ribbing row, increasing one chain every 8 ribbing rows.
1st round – (sc8, inc1) to end plus sl.st.1
After the increase you should have 73 chs in total.
2nd round – ch1, h.sm.ch, flsc to last ch1; sk1 + sl.st.1 in the 2nd ch after st.pt.
Step 4
3rd round – ch1, h.sm.ch, bl sl.st. to last ch1; sk1 + sl.st.1 in the 2nd ch after st.pt.
4th round – ch1, h.sm.ch, blsc to last ch1; sk1 + sl.st.1 in the 2nd ch after st.pt.
Alternate the 3rd and 4th rounds until the final decrease.
Step 5
Decrease
20th round – ch1, h.sm.ch, [blsc6, sk1, blsc1] to last ch1; sk1 + sl.st.1 in the 2nd ch after st.pt.
21st round and all odd rounds = 3rd round
22th round – ch1, h.sm.ch, [blsc5, sk1, blsc1] to last ch1; sk1 + sl.st.1 in the 2nd ch after st.pt.
24th round – ch1, h.sm.ch, [blsc4, sk1, blsc1] to last ch1; sk1 + sl.st.1 in the 2nd ch after st.pt.

Hello!
Hello!
How do I increase the size of this hat to fit a 22 inches circumference head? Any tips?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Tokti,
Hi Tokti,
I would suggest to crochet a small sample of sc sts to learn your gauge first. Then estimate how many chains you need to work to the head circumference accordingly. Work as many ribbing rows as necessary to fit around the head, and then pick up your estimated number of chains on the edge of the ribbing. In addition, the estimated number should be dividable to a certain number. In the pattern, the total number of chs is dividable by 8. So, I worked one decrease in each 8 chs for the first decrease round. Happy crocheting!
