Here's my finished product. But it just fits my 3 year old. Am I stitching too tightly?

Hi Tokti,
Hi Tokti,
Your work and hat are very beautiful just like your cute model. To get the right size, it is extremely important to check your gauge/tension before starting any project. For that, it is necessary to crochet a small sample and count how many sc sts/chs go into about 4 inches (10 cm). Then estimate how many chs you need to make to fit your head circumference. You can also adjust your gauge to match with mine by choosing a larger size crochet hook or thicker yarn. If still in doubt, you may write me your gauge, and I suggest the number of chs to start with. Happy crochet!

Hi!I almost finished mine and have a question - despite using a No 6mm crochet hook, the band of the hat was too large, so I decreased stitches and now is fine. The thing is, I now have 39 stitches around - could you please advise in detail how I will make the brim and the edge of the hat? Your help would be greatly appreciated!
