Step-by-step knitting instructions

Begin knitting the hat with a ribbing, cast on 88 sts or multiples of 4 sts, making first loops loosely. Stretch the loops from one point to point to start knitting in the round.

Ribbing

1st round (wrong side) – [k2, p2] to end
2 – 12 rounds = 1st round
13th round (wrong side) – p to end

Body of the hat

Turn the garment to the other side.
14th round (right side) – k to end
15 – 35 rounds (or more) = 14th round

Decrease

36th round – [k2tog, k9] to end
37th round – k to end
When it will be too tight to knit on circular needles, switch to double pointed needles.
38th round – [k2tog, k8] to end
39th round – k to end
40th round – [k2tog, k7] to end
41st round – k to end
42nd round – [k2tog, k6] to end
