Knitting Needles - Size 3 (3.25 mm) or other size needles needed for the gauge
Gauge – about 12 sts in 2.5 inches (6.3 cm)
Hand circumference - about 12 cm (4.8 inches)
Complexity - Beginner friendly stitch
Cast on 24 sts or any even number of sts.
Distribute the 24 sts to three dpn.
Ribbing
1st round – k to end
2n round = 1st round
3rd round – [k1, sl.st.1] to end
Repeat the pattern starting from the 2nd round.
Increase
17th round – (inc1, k12) x 2
18, 19 rounds = 1st round
20th round – (inc1, k13) x 2
21, 22 rounds = 1st round
Thump point
Put 4 sts on a safety pit to work with them later.
Make new 4 sts.
Knit all sts for 20 rounds.
Decrease
44th round – [k2, k2tog] to end
45th round = 1st round
46th round – [k1, k2tog] to end
47th round = 1st round
48th round - k2tog to end
Cut the yarn and secure it from inside of the mitten.
Thump
Attach the yarn.
Slide the 4sts back to a dpn from the safety pin.
Pick up 8 more sts
Knit in the round for about 10 rounds.
Decrease all sts (k2tog to end).
Cut the yarn and secure it from the inside of the thumb.
Knit the second mitten as the first one.

I made this pattern for 12 cm (4.8 in) hand circumference. It fits my 3 year old daughter. To make a bigger size, it is necessary to knit more increase rounds (after ribbing rounds) until you knit to a thumb. After the thumb, it will be necessary to work more rounds until you knit to the end of the pinky finger, and then begin working the decrease rounds. Happy knitting!
