Importance of healthy food


Health is one of the most valuable treasures that a person has. If people are healthy they are good, happy, active, productive at work, and look and feel wonderful. In addition, healthy and strong individuals have less stress, worries, and depression. Therefore, it is very important to stay healthy all the time. One way of sustain your health condition is to eat balanced and varied food, such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and dairy. However, it should be only reasonable amounts of any food because over eating might cause many other problems. Everything should be in harmony.

With right food choices people might avoid many health problems and stop from developing existing ones. For example, if you were diagnosed during late pregnancy with gestational diabetes, you might be able to control it with proper diet and activity level.

Food and weight loss problems

Sometimes people don’t even realize how much of food they eat every day. If you start keeping a record of what you eat each day or put in a basket every single item that you consumed, then you might be very surprised and may not believe your eyes what you see. Since not all people are the same, it is not necessary true that the less you eat the fewer pounds you will get. An individuals’ weight depends on their metabolism, level of activities, and eating habits. Therefore, normally for people who do more exercise is normally acceptable to eat more than for those who don’t move a lot during the day. For example, a person who has a sitting type of work will have to do more workouts in order to eat more calories than other one with standing type of job.

Who makes better food choices?

For some reason women are generally more concerned about healthy food choices than men. So, normally mothers take care in families about right eating habits. They usually buy groceries or make a list for husbands that should be bought for the week.

In addition, when it comes to selecting food, older people are more likely to choose and consume foods based on health concerns. One explanation of it can be that people become more experienced and wiser with years. On the other hand, young people normally don’t appreciate their health much and think that it will be all the time like that. They start to value it only later in life when sometimes it is too late to do something about that resulting in some different kinds of chronic diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure.

Therefore, for parents it is very important to teach their children a healthy lifestyle starting at a young age. Adults should help shape children's eating habits by showing them their own good example. For instance, your kids will be able to make better nutritious choices if they can see you choosing nutrient-rich foods and healthy drinks, such as milk, juices, and water, instead of eating fast food and drinking coke.
