Part 1 video tutorial
Begin crocheting the sweater from the bottom to top.
Make a foundation chain of 145 chains or multiples of 6 chs plus 1 additional ch.
Join it into a ring with the slip stitch.
1st round – ch3, dc to end plus sl.st.1 into 3rd ch
2nd round – ch4, sk1, [dc1, ch1, sk1] to end + sl.st.1 into 3rd ch
3rd round – ch3, sk2, dc1, ch3, dc4 under dc, sk2, [dc1, sk2, dc1, ch3, dc4 under dc, sk2] to end + sl.st.1 into 3rd ch
4th round – ch5, sc1 under 3chs of prev.round, ch2, [dc1 above dc of prev.round, ch2, sc1 under 3chs of prev.round, ch2] to end + sl.st.1 into 3rd ch
5th round = 2nd round
6 & 7 rounds = 1st round
8th round – ch3, dc1, ch2, sk2, [dc2, ch2, sk2] to end + sl.st.1 into 3rd ch
9th round – ch5, [dc2 under arch of 2chs of prev.round, ch2] to end; dc1 under the last arch of 2chs of prev.round + sl.st.1 into 3rd ch
10th round = 1st round
Repeat the pattern starting from the 1st round until you crochet the desired length underarms.

Part 2 video tutorial
After you crochet 36 rounds, begin crocheting rows for the front part using half of your total number of chs.
Front part
1st row (write side) – ch3, dc72 + RC3
2nd row (wrong side) – h5ch, dc1, [ch2, sk2, dc2] to last 3 chs; ch2, sk2, dc1 + RC3
3rd row – dc2 under arch of 2 chs, [ch2, dc2 under arch of 2 chs] to last 2 chs; ch1, sk1, dc1 + RC3
4th row – h5ch, dc72 + RC3
5th row – h5ch, dc72 + RC4
6th row – h7ch, dc1, [ch1, sk1, dc1] to end + RC3
7th row – h7ch, dc1, ch3, dc4 under dc, sk2, [dc1, sk2, dc1, ch3, dc4 under dc, sk2] to last 1 ch; dc1 + RC5
8th row – sc1 under 3chs of prev.row, ch2, [dc1 above dc of prev.row, ch2, sc1 under 3chs of prev.row, ch2] to last 1 ch; dc1 + RC4

13th row = 3rd row
14th row = 4th row

Attach the yarn 18 chs before the end of the 10th row.
11th row – ch3, dc18 + RC3

Hi I love this pattern . Can u plz tell how many foundation chains for XL size. Thx X
Hi Narinder,
Hi Narinder,
For the XL size (44 inches chest circumference), I would make a foundation chain of about 181 chs to work 30 repeats. Then I would work 15 repeats for each front and back parts and 4 repeats for each shoulder part. The number of chs will depend also on how you want this sweater to fit you snugly or loosely. Work about 13 repeats for each sleeve. Happy crochet!

Can u plz tell me how many yarn ball needs for XL size..thx
Hi Narinder,
Hi Narinder,
The number of balls needed for the project depends on many factors like how you want this top to fit (snugly or loosely), how long you plan this sweater and sleeves to be, and so on.
To be on a safe side, I would suggest to get about 6 or more yarn balls. Happy crochet!
Hello. I am also doing the XL
Hello. I am also doing the XL - 181 chains. How many chains must I do for the sleeves. 64 stitches do not fit my armhole :(
Please help
Hi Bruna Lamb,
Hi Bruna Lamb,
I would advise you to wrap the garment around your upper arm, and then count how many repeats you need to work for each sleeve. I suggested Narinder to work 13 repeats for each sleeve or 79 chs (13 x 6 chs) +1 ch. Happy crochet!
Thank you for your prompt
Thank you for your prompt response. Must the number of stitches at the top of the sleeve be equal to the number of stitches around the armhole? Thank you
Sorry to be a pain but could
Sorry to be a pain but could I crochet the sleeves starting at the armhole instead of joining. When I join the sleeve to the armhole I have extra stitches on my sleeve :(
You may widen your armholes
You may widen your armholes by working a row or two for your shoulder parts. You may start crocheting sleeves from the armholes, but then your pattern will go in opposite direction from the body part pattern. Happy crochet!
Hi Bruna,
Hi Bruna,
My number of chains at the top of the sleeve was not the same as the number of chs around the sweater's armhole. I worked additional dc to cover up the hole (video tutorial Part2). I did not want to match the same number of chs in order not to have too wide sleeves. Happy crochet!
