Step-by-step crochet instructions
Step 1
Make a foundation chain of 14 chain stitches (ch.sts)
Crochet the 1st stripe up
1st row – sc 2, ch.3 + sl. st. 1 in the same chain (1st bump), sc 4, ch.3 + sl.st.1 in the same chain (2nd bump), sc2 and rc 7
Turn your work without crocheting last 4 chains. You will work with them later.
Step 2
2nd row – sc 1 between 2 bumps plus rc 2 (to create an arch)
3rd row – dc 8 (insert a hook into a 3rd chain from your hook), ch.3 +sl. st.1 in a chain of the previous row, sc 2, ch.3 + sl.st. 1 in the same chain (3rd bump), sc2 plus rc2
You should have 10 columns on the arch – first and last columns from just chains and 8 dc columns. With help of the last column, you can go down to lower level.
Step 3
4th row – insert a hook into 5th chain after the 3rd bump [dc1, ch.1] repeat 10 times (you should have 10 dc columns), ch.1, and insert the hook into last chain after the 1st bump, sl. st. 1
After the 4th row your 1st fan is ready.
Step 4
5th row – sl.st.5, sc2, ch.3 + sl.st.1 in the same chain (1st bump), sc 4, ch.3 + sl.st.1 in the same chain (2nd bump), sc2 &rc 7
Step 5
Repeat the pattern from 2nd row until you have 19 fans in total.
Step 6
Crochet the second stripe down.
After you crochet the 19th fans, work sl.st.5, sc2 and ch.sts14
Continue the pattern connecting the second stripe to the first one. Match closely chains and fans.
Step 7
Crochet the 3rd stripe up
After you crochet the 19th fans of the 2nd stripe, work sl.st.5, sc2 and ch.14
Repeat the pattern connecting the 3rd stripe to the 2nd one until you crochet 15 fans.
Step 8
Crochet the 4th stripe down
After you crochet the 15th fans of the 3rd stripe, work sl.st.5, sc2 and ch.sts14
Work the pattern joining the 4th stripe to the 3rd one until you crochet 15 fans again.
Step 9
Crochet the 5th stripe up and 6th one down
At the end of last fan of each stripe, work sl.st.5, sc2 and ch.14
Repeat the pattern connecting stripes together until you crochet 19 fans.
Step 10
Crochet the 7th stripe up for about 12 fans.
After that your front piece is done.
Step 11
Crochet the back piece the same as the front one. Create about 16 fans on each middle stripe.

Hi Sana, I would like to make

Hi Sana, I would like to make this but I don't have the size of the hook that you use, I have 3.25mm and 3.5 mm. Please advise how many foundation chains if I use the 3.25 mm for xl. Thanks.

Hi Luz,

Hi Luz,
For the blouse, I crocheted 14 stripes. For the size XL, I would work 16 stripes/repeats: one stripe under each arm, 2 stripes for each shoulder piece, and 3 stripes for one front and one back parts. I would advise you to crochet one short stripe to estimate how many stripes/repeats you need to your gauge and chest circumference accordingly. Happy crochet!

Hi Jumana Fawmi,

Hi Jumana Fawmi,
I would suggest you to work the pattern (steps 1 through 5). Make just few fans to learn your gauge. Then you can make an estimate how many fans you need to your chest circumference and length of the blouse accordingly. You may write me your gauge, and I'll help you with the estimate. Happy crochet!
