Step 1
Make a foundation chain of 105 chains or multiples of 10 chains plus 5 additional chains. I count all the chains including the loop on the hook.
Step 2
Increase
Add 10 chains
1st row – [sc9, ch1] to last 13 chs; sc13 plus RC3
2nd row – h4ch, [dc2 on 1ch, ch1, (dc1, ch1, dc1) on 1ch, ch1, dc2 on 1ch, ch1, sk1, (sc1, ch1, sk1) x 3] to last 3 chs; dc2 on 1ch, ch1, (dc1, ch1, dc1) on 1ch, dc2 on 1ch + RC3
3rd row – h4ch, [dc2 on 1ch, ch2, sk3, tr6 on 1ch, ch2, sk3, dc2 on 1ch, ch2, sk2, sc1, ch3, sk1, sc1, ch2] to last 9 chs; dc2 on 1ch, ch2, sk3, tr6 on 1ch, ch2, sk3, dc2 on 1ch + RC3
Step 3
Pineapple pattern increasing chains

Step 4
Join front and back parts
22nd row – work the pattern for 2 PAs, join 2nd with 6th PA, skipping 3 shoulder PAs. Continue the pattern the regular way for 5 PAs, the connect 10th with 14th PA, skipping 3 shoulder PAs again. Crochet the pattern for the remaining 2 PAs as usual.
Continue the pattern increasing chains for two more rows.

Repeat the pattern starting from the 1st round
Step 7
Edges, buttons, and buttonholes
Work sc for all the edges.
Sew buttons making 7 rows intervals between each button or as desired.
Work 9** chains for each buttonhole making 7 rows intervals between each buttonhole as well.
** the number might vary depending on the size of the chosen buttons.
Planning point.
If it is necessary to adjust the crochet project to a different size, plan ahead how many pineapples you need to work to make the width accordingly to your chest circumference.

Hi somy,

Hi somy,
Please watch the video Part I from about 32:09 to learn how to join the back and front parts together. In the video Part II, you'll learn how to work the pattern in the round to make sleeves. Happy crocheting!

What is your bust

What is your bust circumference? That will help me to determine what size pineapples should be to your size accordingly. Thank you.

Hi somy,

Hi somy,
For the 34 inches chest circumference, I would advise you to make pineapples about 3.25 inches wide. The pineapples may not be 3.25 inches wide from the beginning, but when you crochet to about few rounds before it is necessary to join the back and 2 front part together, then you must adjust your gauge to have 3.25 inches wide repeats/pineapples. For that you need to use a larger size crochet hook or crochet less tightly. Happy crocheting!

Hi Sana sorry to bother you

Hi Sana sorry to bother you again. I tried size 3mm crochet hook and also 3.5mm hook my gauge is 4 inches =a pineapple . How many chains do I need to start with if I need 10 pineapples . How would I divide 10 pineapples for back and front . Also my yarn is 100 gm per ball , so how many balls of yarn would I need.

Hi SSeaman18,

Hi SSeaman18,
If your gauge is 4 inches = one pineapple/repeat, then I would follow the pattern exactly. You will make actually more than 10 pineapples because of the increase. You should have 10 pineapples just for the body and 3 pineapples for each sleeve. Please watch the video Part I from about 32:09. I always advise to get more yarn in order to have enough to finish a project. So, I would purchase about 5 - 6 balls, but it depends on many factors like how long you want it to make or how long your sleeves will be. Happy crochet!

Hi Sana I can't seem to get

Hi Sana I can't seem to get any further than 2nd row. When I get to the end of 3rd row I still left with 7 chs after crocheting the last 9 chs. How many chs should I have after the 2nd row if I started with 104 chs. I tried this 3 times .A bit frustrated but am not going to give up. Please help!!
