Why Toyota?
There were few car makes and models on the list of potential vehicles that will suite our needs. After test driving Nissan Rogue, Nissan Murano, Mazda CX-5, Toyota Highlander, Honda Accord, and certainly Toyota Camry, we went with Toyota. All mentioned vehicles have pretty much similar basic manufacturer warranty, but only Toyota offers no cost maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Why Toyota Camry?
Because of design we exclude RAV4 from our list, and Corolla is a much smaller vehicle. The choice was narrowed to Toyota Highlander and Toyota Camry. There are two absolutely different types of vehicles. Midsize SUV with mediocre fuel economy, much bigger, but way more expensive and midsize sedan which is smaller, no AWD option, no third row seating, but very comfortable inside with much better fuel economy. As we travel a lot, one round trip from Chicago to Key West, FL on Camry will save us about $100 on gas alone compare to driving Highlander there. As we have just one child, and don’t need a big car – comfortable sedan pretty much will suits our needs. But even more important – it’s a price of a vehicle. There were no manufacturer rebates, or 0% financing offers on a new Toyota Highlander, and total price for that SUV would be in upper thirties. Unlike that, there was low interest financing offers, as well as cash back on a new 2016 Toyota Camry, and the total purchasing price for the one of bestselling sedans would be in low- to mid- twenties. Mainly because of a big difference in price, we decided to buy a Toyota Camry.
