Fuel-efficient cars
Due to gas price increase hybrid cars become more and more popular. Unlike gasoline powered vehicles hybrid cars consume less fuel in the city and drivers in bigger metropolitan areas with heavy traffic might save a lot on gas driving a hybrid. Just for comparison, 2013 Toyota Prius rated 51 miles per gallon fuel economy in the city while similar by size Toyota Corolla only 27 MPG. It is true that Prius cost more, but savings on gas might easily pay off the higher car price.
