Step 1
Cast on 68 stitches.
Step 2
Horizontal ribbing.
1, 2, 5, 6, 9, and 10 rounds - knit all stitches to end.
3, 4, 7, and 8 rounds - purl all stitches to end.
Step 3
Increase a number of stitches.
11th round - [pick up 1 stitch, knit 8] to end. You should have 8 stitches more. Now you have 76 stitches in total or multiples of 19 stitches.
Step 4
Christmas tree pattern.
12th round - [k2, p15, k2] 4 times
13th round - [pu1, k1, sd1, p3, m3, p5, m3, p3, k2tog, k1, pu1] to end
14th round - [p1, k2, p3, k3, p5, k3, p3, k2, p1] 4 times
15th round - [p1, pu1, k1, sd1, p2, k3, p5, k3, p2, k2tog, k1, pu1, p1] to end
16th round - [p2, k2, p2, k3tog, p5, k3tog, p2, k2, p2] four times
17th round - [p2, pu1, k1, sd1, p4, m3, p4, k2tog, k1, pu1, p2] to end
18th round - [p3, k2, p4, k3, p4, k2, p3] 4 times
19th round - [p3, pu1, k1, sd1, p3, k3, p3, k2tog, k1, pu1, p3] to end

Decrease
K2tog every 19 stitches. So, now you should have 72 stitches.
K2tog every 12 sts, 11 sts, 10 sts, and so on until last 5 stiches, k3tog twice.
Step 6
Cut the yarn, insert it inside of the hat, and secure the tail of the yarn.
