Step-by-step crochet instructions
Step 1
Make a foundation chain of 125 chain stitches or the number should be dividable by 5.
Step 2
1st row (right side) - sc2, [ch2, sk2, sc3] to last 1 ch.; sc1 + RC1
2nd row (wrong side) – [sc backwards 3, ch2, sk2] to last 3 chs; sc backwards 3 + RC1
3rd row – sc1, [sc3, ch2, sk2] to last 2 chs; sc2 + RC1
4th row – sc backwards 1, [ch2, sk2, sc backwards 3] to last 2 chs; ch1, sk1, sc backwards 1 + RC1
5th row = 3rd row
6th row = 2nd row
Repeat the pattern starting from the 1st row until you reach the desired length up to armholes or for 42 rows more.
Step 3
Front part
(crochet on ¼ of the total number of chain stitches)
49th row (right side) – sc31 plus RC1
50th row (wrong side) – sc backwards to end plus RC1
51, 53, 55, 57, 59, and 61 rows = 49th row
52, 54, 56, 58, and 60 rows = 50th row
Step 4
Front shoulder part
(crochet on 20 chain stitches)
62nd row – sc backwards 20 + RC1
63rd row – sc to end + RC1
64, 66, and 68 rows = 62nd row
65, 67, and 69 rows = 63rd row
Step 5
Back part
(work on 62 chain stitches or to last 31 ch. sts)
49th row (right side) – sc 62 plus RC1
50th row (wrong side) – sc backwards to end plus RC1
51, 53, 55, 57, 59, 61, 63, and 65 rows = 49th row
52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62, 64, and 66 rows = 50th row
Step 6
1st back shoulder piece
(crochet on 20 chain stitches)
67th row (right side) – sc 20 + RC1
68th row – sc backwards to end + RC1
69th row – sc to end + RC1
Step 7
2nd back shoulder piece
From the 69th row work slip stitches down to the 66th row and continue sc to end of the 67th row.
Repeat 68th and 69th rows working 20 chains.
Step 8
2nd front part
Attach the yarn at the very end of the 49th row
49th row (wrong side) - sc backwards 31 plus RC1
50th row (right side) – sc to end plus RC1
51, 53, 55, 57, 59, and 61 rows = 49th row
52, 54, 56, 58, and 60 rows = 50th row
Step 9
2nd front shoulder piece
(crochet on 20 chain stitches)
62nd row – sc 20 + RC1
63rd row – sc backwards to end + RC1
64, 66, and 68 rows = 62nd row
65, 67, and 69 rows = 63rd row
Step 10
Join shoulder pieces together from the wrong side of the garment.
Step 11
Sleeves
Attach the yarn underarms and repeat rows 1 – 6 (the total number of the new chain stitches should be 50 or dividable by 5). For the last 7th row, work sc to end then join the two sleeve pieces from the wrong side.
Step 12
Attach the yarn at the beginning of the 61st row of the left front part (or the front part where your buttons are going to be) and work sc down to the initial foundation chain. Add RC1 and work sc up to end of the row (back to the 61st row) + RC1. Work sc down to the bottom of the garment again, then continue sc to the starting point (working 1st front, back, and 2nd front parts) and then up to the 61st row of the right front part.
Step 13
Button holes
To make one button hole, work *ch1 (it depends on the size of the buttons), sk1, and continue sc to the next button hole. Repeat the process starting from *. Make about even intervals between each button hole. At the end of the row, work RC1. Crochet the last row up working 1 sc backwards in each chain and about 5 sc backwards in each button hole.
Step 14
Collar
Pick up about 80 chains for the collar.
1st row (wrong side) - sc to end plus RC1
2nd row (right side) - sc backwards to end + RC1
Repeat the pattern starting from the 1st row until you reach the desired length or for about 10 rows. At the end, work sc on both sides of the collar.
Step 15
Sew buttons matching closely the button holes.
